British Cycling The national governing body for British cycling. A useful source of help and information. Cyclists Touring Club A very worthy body. The largest membership of any British cycling club. Actively involved in fighting for the rights of all cyclists. Also great for cheap insurance. Blackburn & District CTC Blackburn CTC has a very active and enthusiastic membership. Rooted in the traditions of the Cyclists Touring Club their activities cover a wide range: Sunday rides starting from Whalley, Club nights with quizzes and speakers,"Standard" rides, treasure hunts and tourist competitions. The club also has a racing section affiliated to the Time Trials Council and can boast more women than men on some of their club runs! North Lancs Road Club One of the larger clubs in the area, the NLRC caters for cyclists from the Ribble Valley, Hyndburn and Blackburn areas. With a mid week ride and two Sunday runs from Whalley, "fast Lads" and those who prefer a more social pace. Popular organised fixtures include the "Ten" (10 miles) time trials run through the summer months. Clayton Velo RC Clayton Velo are a long established road racing club in the north west. While still mainly focused on racing, the club has many types of riders into most types of cycling. Like most of the other local clubs, Sunday runs start from Whalley, normally with two groups, a long ride 70-90 miles and a shorter ride 30-35 miles. Clitheroe Cycling Club www.clitheroecyclingclub.co.uk A newly formed club for the Clitheroe area. Aimed at all levels of cyclist with a particular emphasis on recreational riding. Regular rides organised including family rides in Gisburn Forest, transport is even available from Clitheroe! Road riders are also catered for with several weekly rides. Other projects include visits to the velodrome and cyclocross racing. Pendle Forest Cycling Club WWW.pendleforestcyclingclub.co.uk Pendle Forest includes riders from the Nelson, Colne and Burnley areas. The club organise social, weekend and evening rides plus an extensive range of other events. With approximately 50 members, Pendle Forest offers "something for everyone" ,road racing, touring, time trialing and mountain biking. CTC Burnley & Pendle Section Burnley and Pendle run regular weekly rides with a designated ride leader, graded long, short and extra short. The extra short rides being suitable for new riders. The club emphasis is on the touring side of cycling, to provide an opportunity for socialising and enjoyment. Other activities include social evenings and slide shows.
